Dollar Tree Tuesday!

Anyone who knows me or my shopping habits knows I LOVE The Dollar Tree. Its amazing for all household categories. I have lived a great life many times solely at the Dollar Tree without feeling deprived or broke. When Jack was little I would take him to Dollar Tree for shopping sprees and he loved it, he still does. My daughter loves the Dollar Tree right now for puzzles. They have an endless selection of kids puzzles for toddlers up to adults all for just $1.00 When we are done with a puzzle I place the pieces in a zip lock type bag and cut the puzzle photo off the box for reference. This makes storage for the puzzles a breeze! Best deal ever. Katie is obsessed and its perfectly fine! Cheap (almost free) and so fun!

Coloring Sheets!

If your having any type of event where you need to entertain small kids.....google your event and coloring pages. If your having a Cub Scouts meeting you can google 'cub scout coloring pages' click 'images' and you should get some nice ideas and results for FREE printables. I did this one for Katie's Trolls dinner at Texas Roadhouse. They turned out so cute and as long as you have access to a printer and some crayons or markers its a great FREE activity. Folks of all ages love to color.... this is usually a big hit every time! You can do this for 4th of July, birthday themes, sports events, groups, churches, special school activities and more! My kids LOVE these.

Southwick Zoo Experience

We went to Southwick Zoo on Friday and had a great time. One thing I will say is Southwick is expensive! We had free passes that we won at a charity auction and we still spent nearly triple digits. If you are going to Southwick make sure you take your own food, as a basic lunch or snack was $20.00 for three of us each time and that was ordering cheapo hot dogs and less expensive items. Jack loved the mining activity which was $12.00 a bucket and I bought him two buckets.

The food thing was my own fault because I normally take food for our outings and field trips but it's the end of summer and things are hectic with back to school preparations, so we just went on the fly....mistake!

Anyway the zoo grounds are pristine and we loved going on the train ride, in fact we went twice! They have smaller rides for little ones and a sky ride and zip line for bigger kids and adults....again take your wallet because you will need it!

If going to Southwick you will have a blast, just make sure you find coupons for entry, and take your own small cooler which is allowed!

I had our foldable red wagon which was key for letting the kids rest their legs from all the walking and also great for my big bag of essentials.

Character Night @ Texas Roadhouse - North Smithfield Rhode Island

We had an absolute BLAST at Texas Roadhouse in North Smithfiled RI last night! They recently started doing character night for families and last night was Trolls. Since Katies birthday is this week...and she has been begging for a Trolls Party....we took our party to Texas Roadhouse since the characters where already going to be there....! Last night was a win-win. Texas Roadhouse was wonderful to Katie and her Grandma who were both celebrating their birthdays! The food was awesome, the Trolls were awesome, and they even had a balloon guy which was a huge hit with the kids! The dinner bill was extremely reasonable, we paid much less than expected. Since it's in the high 80's in RI we didn't want to drive with a cake and have it melt and be a mess..so we ordered a few birthday desserts after dinner. So we didn't have to pay for any unnecessary desserts they split dessert plates into threes for us and put them on the Trolls plates that we provided. It was the best night ever. We LOVE Texas Roadhouse in North Smithfiled and will definitely be back! Although Katie was a little scared of the big Trolls she was still extremely smitten with her birthday dinner! The Trolls were dancing around the resteraunt...it was so happy and FUN! A real celebration! #frugalmom #birthdays #TexasRoadhouse #trolls #celebrate #friends #family #neighbors

Groton-New London Connecticut Airport Walking Tour

Today was our annual trip to the Groton-New London walking tour. This family event is one of our favorite FREE activities around. Not many people know about it because it's not really advertised to the masses. Upon arrival the airport gave Jack and Katie each a HUGE airplane lollipop, and an airplane squeeze toy which was a huge hit. Jack is coincidentally very into squeeze toys right now. We loved our experience so much.. It was about 92 degrees in New England today which is super hot for us but we survived! The only thing we HATE about this event is that we have to wait a year until we can attend again. Perfect activity for the family! Thank you to Groton-New London airport for giving Jack & Katie the royal treatment. We had the best day ever and the kids learned a bunch!!  😍🛫🚁🤓✌👍👌

Leapfest Rhode Island 2017

Leapfest!!!! We went to Leapfest a few weeks ago. It was our first time attending and wow was it awesome. The kids loved seeing the Rhode Island National Guard jumpers, and also the teams that traveled from across the world to parachute in Rhode Island. There was plenty of parking at West Kingston Elementry School and the landing field was right next to a playground which was convenient for families. We loved it. What a great FREE educational experience for the entire family!

Who is going to this tomorrow! SO this is seriously one of our favorite FREE summer activities. Planes, planes......and more planes! We can't wait!
